What's the difference between robusta and arabica?

Robusta grows at lower altitudes, has almost twice the caffeine of arabica, and produces a dense, bold, full-bodied cup — perfect for the phin filter and cà phê sữa đá. Arabica grows higher up, runs lower in caffeine, and delivers brightness, floral notes, and clean acidity. We blend both: robusta from the Central Highlands (Buôn Ma Thuột, Pleiku, Kon Tum) for the kick, arabica from Đà Lạt, Cầu Đất, and Sơn La for the lift.

Why is Cà Phê X House so high in caffeine?

Because we lead with robusta. Most Western specialty coffee is arabica-dominant and low-caffeine by design. Vietnamese coffee tradition has always been built on robusta — bold, dense, and loaded. We take that further: robusta is the backbone of every blend, giving you a real caffeine kick, not a polite one. The ✕ crossover adds arabica brightness on top of it, not instead of it.

Where is the coffee sourced?

Every origin traces back to a small farm somewhere across Việt Nam. We source from six regions: Buôn Ma Thuột (Đắk Lắk), Pleiku (Gia Lai), and Kon Tum for Central Highlands robusta; Đà Lạt and Cầu Đất (Lâm Đồng) and Sơn La (Northwest Highlands) for highland arabica. Is it fresh? Roasted to order?

Yes. Every order is roasted small-batch to order — not sitting in a warehouse for months. We don't hold large roasted stock. You order, we roast, we ship. That's how we keep it fresh.

Question 5

How do I use a phin filter?

Accepted Answer

A phin is a Vietnamese slow-drip brewing device — simple and reliable. Place the filter chamber on your cup, add 2–3 tablespoons of coarse-ground coffee, press the insert plate down lightly, then pour in hot water (just off the boil, around 92–96°C). Let it drip for 4–6 minutes. Pour over a glass of ice. Add sweetened condensed milk. That's cà phê sữa đá — the foundation of the daytime party.

What grind should I use for phin, espresso, or drip?

For a phin: coarse-medium — similar to French press but slightly finer, around 600–800 microns. For espresso: fine, 200–300 microns. For drip (pour-over, filter machine): medium, 400–600 microns. We recommend ordering whole-bean and grinding fresh if you have a grinder. If you prefer pre-ground, our bags are ground specifically for the phin method.

How do I make cà phê sữa đá?

Brew a strong phin shot directly into a glass over 2–3 ice cubes. Add 1–3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk (adjust to taste — more for sweet, less for bitter-sweet). Stir and top with more ice. The condensed milk creates that classic layered look before you mix it. Drink fast or the ice dilutes the kick. Alternatively: brew hot, add milk, no ice — that's cà phê sữa nóng.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes. We ship internationally from Việt Nam. If there's a postal address, we can reach it. Every order is sealed fresh and packed to ship.

How long does shipping take?

Domestic Vietnam orders typically arrive in 2–5 business days. International shipping is generally 7–21 business days depending on destination and customs. We'll send you a tracking number once your order ships.

What about customs and duties?

International orders may be subject to import duties, taxes, or customs fees in the destination country. These fees are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in our pricing. Most countries allow small quantities of packaged food products like roasted coffee through without issue, but regulations vary — check your local customs rules if you're unsure.

Will I get a tracking number?

Yes. Once your order is roasted, packed, and handed off to the carrier, you'll receive a tracking number by email so you can follow it to your door.

How do I pay?

We accept major credit and debit cards via Stripe — Visa, Mastercard, Amex. Canadian customers can also pay by Interac e-Transfer. No hidden fees; what you see at checkout is what you pay.

Can I return or exchange my order?

Accepted Answer

All sales are final on consumable products (roasted coffee). If your order arrives damaged, incorrect, or there's a quality issue, contact us at hello@caphexhouse.com and we'll sort it out. We stand behind what we roast.

Do you offer gift cards?

What does the ✕ crossover mean?

The coral ✕ is the crossover — coffee × house music, Việt Nam × the world. It's in the name (Cà Phê X House), the logo, the packaging. Two things that belong together but don't usually meet. Vietnamese robusta + house music culture. The daytime party that starts with a really good cup of coffee.

Do you offer subscriptions?

No. Intentionally. We're one-off, on-demand. Buy when you want, exactly what you want — no recurring charges, no auto-renew, no lock-in. The daytime party doesn't run on a subscription.
